"In recent years, the substantial spillover effects of artificial intelligence (AI) have hastened the emergence of new technologies. Large model technology, in particular, has shown significant advantages and immense potential in urban governance, especially in tasks like recognition, understanding, decision-making, and content generation," said Li Bin, deputy director of Chongqing Big Data Application and Development Administration.
As a megacity, Chongqing faces extensive, complex, and diverse urban governance challenges. Traditional methods sometimes fall short of meeting the needs of modern governance in this context. According to Li, it is essential to introduce large model technology into urban operations and governance.
Chongqing's large model is based on Tongyi, Alibaba's proprietary pre-trained model framework that unifies various AI models. It utilizes the extensive digital resources amassed during the development of digital Chongqing and is tailored to meet the vertical AI large model demands for digital urban governance.
Yan Zhiqiang, general manager of Digital Chongqing Company, said the company aims to attain distinctive outcomes in digital city operations and governance based on a large model that integrates data, algorithms, services, security, scenarios, and knowledge.
