Yang Jin provided an update on the project’s status, stating, “We have a total of 12 boarding bridges, and as of now, we’ve successfully excavated nine and erected six structures.” He continued by conducting thorough inspections of the No. 630 and 631 boarding bridges, assessing the structure’s erection and formwork placement.
His commitment to the project was evident as he hurried to the electrical substation and basement, with a particular focus on the recent heavy rain’s potential impact. “The heavy rain a few days ago might have caused water accumulation in the basement. I want to ensure the water pump is functioning correctly,” Yang Jin explained as he quickened his pace.
Exiting the basement, he proceeded to the second floor of the K corridor area, meticulously inspecting the plastering of the secondary structure. He scrutinized every detail, checking for wall cracks, confirming plaster thickness met the required standards, and ensuring there was no floor ash.

He expressed his commitment to continue working diligently alongside his colleagues on the front lines, ensuring the project advances safely, maintains orderliness, and meets deadlines while upholding quality standards.

This project holds immense significance as a key undertaking of the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government and the Civil Aviation Administration of China during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) period. It represents a pivotal step towards establishing a world-class airport cluster in Chengdu and Chongqing. Furthermore, it accelerates the construction of Chongqing’s inland open highlands and enhances its role as an international aviation gateway hub.
The project’s completion is anticipated in 2024, with official use expected in 2025. Upon completion, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport will boast four runways and four terminals, capable of accommodating an annual passenger throughput of 80 million, facilitating 580,000 aircraft takeoffs and landings, and handling a cargo and mail throughput of 1.2 million tons.
