Chongqing- The 2nd Sichuan-Chongqing Adjacent Areas Mass Sports Festival kicks off in Rongchang District, located in Chongqing's western area, from October 18-22, 2023. This event signifies the growing sports collaboration within the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, as announced at an October 16 press conference.

At the press conference, Wan Rong, Rongchang District Mayor, detailed the extensive itinerary for the five-day event, which encapsulates activities ranging from championships to lectures and cultural displays to investment opportunities. The gathering aims to attract approximately 8,000 attendees, strengthening the bond between Sichuan and Chongqing through sports.
Highlighted events involve the 2023 Sichuan-Chongqing national-level social sports instructor training course, the Chongqing Youth Wushu Championships featuring over 533 youth athletes, and the Sichuan-Chongqing Weiqi Exchange Contest with 500 participants. All sports enthusiasts are invited to Rongchang to catch the games live.
In addition, a tourism and leisure season will run alongside, blending sports with cultural, tourist, and commercial activities, reflecting the region's commitment to promoting nationwide fitness.

Recalling the successful inaugural event in Dazhou City, situated in the east of Sichuan province, the past year saw the rise of notable integrated sports initiatives in both cities. Over 1,100 events were held, engaging over 10 million participants in regular exercises and generating more than 10 billion yuan (about 1.38 billion U.S. dollars) value in sports consumption.

Chongqing Municipal Sports Bureau highlighted Rongchang's exemplary commitment to promoting fitness, with over 50 large-scale events annually and 50.3% of its population participating in regular physical exercise. Rongchang has hosted numerous national championships and earned accolades from the General Administration of Sport of China.
As part of its vision to establish a leading sports industry hub, Rongchang is honing in on enhancing its sports events economy. They aim to attract more international and national events, positioning Rongchang as a premier event destination.
Additionally, the creation of the Chongqing (Rongchang) Sports Industrial Park will emphasize the growth of the broader sports industry, from sports tech and equipment to apparel and nutrition. With a commitment to developing sports brands like Qiaodan and Rongwei Shoes, Rongchang envisions crafting a neighborhood known for its sports consumption, offering diverse experiences for sports-related spending.
