Shenzhen - The highly anticipated World Food and Agricultural Expo (Shenzhen) 2023, known as the 2023 Shenzhen Food Expo, was held from December 1 to 3 at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, a significant event in the culinary calendar and a showcase of global food trends.
Upon entering the expo, you will be welcomed by the tantalizing aroma of bubbling hot pots and the savory sweetness of sesame sauce, offering a sensory feast within your reach.
As the honored guest province, Chongqing has invited over 150 companies from 38 local districts to showcase their products in the expansive Chongqing Pavilion.
Encompassing an impressive 6000 square meters, this pavilion is a melting pot of over 600 products spanning seven distinct industry categories: grains and oils, hot pot ingredients, leisure food, prefabricated food, meat, eggs and milk, fruits and vegetables, and medicinal food.
The heart of Chongqing's culinary excellence lies in its meticulously crafted hot pot broths. Using premium ingredients such as Sichuan peppercorns, chili peppers, and fermented bean paste, the broths are a symphony of flavors, resulting in a rich and aromatic base. As the broth simmers, an enticing fragrance fills the air, leaving visitors craving a taste.
Chongqing has emerged as a hub for quality agricultural products, leveraging its unique geographical advantages and abundant resources. Through measures such as technological innovation, product development, and brand establishment, Chongqing has cultivated a batch of high-quality, well-received specialty agricultural products. These products form the bedrock of Chongqing's food and agricultural processing industry.
Looking ahead, Chongqing aims to collaborate with more industrial ecosystem partners, capitalizing on diverse consumer scenarios and the industry environment created by nearly a thousand large-scale food production enterprises.
A group of Greater Bay Area enterprises have signed significant project and production-sales integration agreements with certain districts and counties in Chongqing.
The total amount of the signed intention agreements is as high as 12.37 billion yuan, covering various fields and industries, including industrial park construction, feed processing, agricultural specialty products, biodegradable materials, prefabricated packaging, prefabricated baking food production, distribution bases, rural revitalization, and more.
Exhibitors from 33 countries and regions
The expo serves as a nexus for international and Hong Kong-Macao resources. Exhibitors from 33 countries and regions underscored the event's global character. French and German wines, Italian and Australian coffee, Spanish and Greek olive oil, and tea from Nepal took center stage, bridging opportunities for both the import of foreign products and the global expansion of Chinese products.
Among the international exhibitors, those from Pakistan brought delectable treats such as cookies and tea, receiving rave reviews from Chinese friends. "You can see many Chinese people want to try our food, and I am kind of busy," a Pakistani exhibitor said with a smile.
Representatives from French exhibitors expressed their satisfaction with the positive reception of their wines among Chinese friends. Actively promoting a French brand tailored for the Chinese market, they highlighted the sale of French cognac aged for over ten years.
"I want to invite everyone to visit our vineyard," said an exhibitor. He is eager to find business partners in China, particularly in the vibrant city of Shenzhen.
