Chongqing - As December arrives, the excitement for ice and snow tourism is rising. The latest invitation has reached the Chongqing's residents right "at their doorstep."
"If you want to see the most beautiful rime scenery and try the 'powder snow' loved by skiing enthusiasts, why not come to Jilin City for an experience!" On December 7th, the Jilin Ice and Snow Promotion Conference took place in Chongqing, extending a warm invitation to all residents of the mountainous city.

As the first complete snow season after the Winter Olympics, the tourism industry has been optimistic about the popularity of the 2023-2024 snow season, with some predictions suggesting it could be the most thriving season in the past five years. Data from the well-known domestic comprehensive tourism service platform, Fliggy, shows that since November, the search popularity for "skiing" has increased by over 100% compared to the previous month, and flight bookings to Northeast China have more than doubled compared to last year.
Based on this trend, the Jinlin City in Northeast China's Jilin Province brought the beautiful scenery and novel activities of the "Rime Capital, Skiing Paradise" to Chongqing. At the event, Cao Jingying, the Secretary of the Party Group and Director of the Jilin Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, and Tourism, provided five recommendations that caught everyone's attention.
"Firstly, of course, you must try skiing on powder snow," said Cao Jingying. Many friends have asked, what exactly is powder snow?" The core of powder snow is particles that have not completely crystallized, giving it greater strength. The outer layer of powder snow is fluffy fibers, which make it extremely elastic. Therefore, this type of snow is ideal for skiing." Cao Jingying explained that this kind of snow quality is a scarce resource and is only found between 42 to 43 degrees latitudes, with Jilin City located in this golden latitude band. For five consecutive years, two of the top three ski resorts in national reception are in Jilin City: Beidahu Ski Resort and Lake Songhua Ski Resort.

The second recommendation is to appreciate rime ice. "Currently, there are 'nine major rime viewing belts' formed within the city," Cao Jingying said.

The third recommendation is to have fun with ice and snow. Jilin City has built three new ice and snow worlds just this year. Strolling among ice lanterns and snow sculptures and experiencing winter fishing on Songhua Lake are must-try activities.
In addition, Cao Jingying also mentioned the unique experience of soaking in hot springs in the ice and snow at around minus 30 degrees. Visitors should not miss tasting Jilin cuisine, such as Wula hot pot, Manchu Eight Bowls, Kaijiang fish, Jilin barbecue, and Iron Pot Roasted Goose.
Furthermore, the Jilin City Tourism Promotion Team had on-site exchanges with the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, associations, and well-known companies to expand the market further in Chongqing. The two tourism associations signed a letter of intent for resource sharing and customer exchange cooperation.
