Hithium Establishes Global Energy Storage Delivery Center for International Markets

Chongqing - China is actively pursuing an energy revolution, focusing on making industries more eco-friendly and less carbon-intensive. Central to this initiative is the development of new energy storage technologies.

Tongliang District, Chongqing, strives to lead in western China’s new energy storage sector, as revealed in a press conference on December 28.

The district collaborated with Hithium Energy Storage to develop a comprehensive industry system, including everything from battery cell manufacturing to materials and photovoltaics.

Established in 2019, Hithium is renowned for its high-quality stationary energy storage products, catering to a range of applications from residential to industrial.

In a significant move towards energy innovation, Hithium and Tongliang District partnered last May to develop a central production facility for energy storage batteries in Chongqing. This facility, which has already initiated production with an investment of 13 billion yuan, is poised to become one of southwest China’s largest with high international standards.

This Hithium site in Chongqing is not just a production hub but has become the central point for marketing and delivery services in southwest China, blending energy storage technology with the district’s economic growth.

Ye Zhen, general manager of Chongqing Hithium Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd., said this would bolster Chongqing’s role in the energy storage industry, promoting innovative applications and transforming Tongliang into a key player in western China’s energy storage sector.

Capitalizing on Chongqing’s strategic location and connectivity, including the China Railway Express and the Yangtze River port, Hithium is also establishing a global delivery service center in the city. This expansion caters to domestic and international markets, targeting regions like Europe, the United States, the Middle East, and Africa.

Meanwhile, Tongliang District is boosting its energy sector investments, developing 24 application scenarios such as independent energy storage power stations and rural power grids, focusing on photovoltaic solutions for rural electricity.

By 2025, Tongliang aims to hit a production target of 100GWh in energy storage batteries, demonstrate applications on a 300,000-kilowatt scale, and elevate the district’s new energy storage business revenue to over 80 billion yuan.

This ambitious plan would usher Chongqing into an era of established new energy storage industrial clusters with a combined value of 200 billion yuan.
