Delegation Visit Strengthens Ties Between Sri Lanka, China’s Chongqing

Chongqing - Recently, a distinguished multiparty delegation from the Parliament of Sri Lanka graced Southwest China's Chongqing with their presence.

During their visit to Chongqing, the Sri Lankan delegation met with Zhao Shiqing, Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Chongqing Municipal People's Congress. In this meeting, Zhao expressed a genuine interest in enhancing collaborations between Chongqing and Sri Lanka across pivotal trade, investment, agricultural technology, and logistics sectors.

This initiative aims to foster genuine mutual support and further strengthen the long-standing friendship between China and Sri Lanka. Concurrently, Lokugamage Gayantha Ganadesha, Karunatilaka, the representative of the Sri Lankan delegation and a member of the United National Party, acknowledged the enduring relationship and the profound traditional friendship that exists between the two nations, underscoring the deep historical ties. He highlighted Sri Lanka's aspiration to draw inspiration from Chongqing's exemplary achievements in industrialization, urban development, and strategic management planning.

The delegation engaged in an extensive tour of Chongqing's notable landmarks and facilities. Their itinerary included a visit to the technologically advanced Seres Automobiles Phoenix Intelligent Factory, an exploration of the comprehensive Chongqing Planning Exhibition Gallery, an insightful tour of the esteemed Chongqing Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and a cultural immersion at the historic Chongqing Huguang Guild Hall.
