Chongqing - Australian milk powders were recently transported from Melbourne Port to Guoyuan Port in Chongqing's Liangjiang New Area using an end-to-end sea-rail route. This represents Chongqing's first use of such transportation since the Chongqing-Guangzhou sea-rail combined transport train was launched in June 2023.

The cargo is operated by Chongqing Gang Teng Supply-Chain Management Co., Ltd., a new venture for the company following the success of its inaugural international logistics export business—the imported goods, originating from Melbourne Port, undergoed customs clearance directly at Guoyuan Port.
The company managed the full international logistics process, including inland factory pickup in Australia, export customs clearance at foreign ports, sea freight booking to Nansha Port in Guangzhou, transit at Nashan Port, railway transport to Guoyuan Port, and ultimately customs clearance and delivery to Gang Teng's cross-border e-commerce bonded warehouse.

A spokesperson for the company highlighted the crucial support from Chongqing Port Customs District and Guangzhou Port Customs District, emphasizing the shift from the traditional import model to the innovative end-to-end sea-rail transport. This approach significantly reduces transportation time and costs while minimizing carbon emissions, striking a balance between economic and social benefits.
