Chongqing - In recent years, Chongqing has seized the opportunity to accelerate building the city into a Hub for International Exchanges in Central and Western China, continuously integrating and expanding foreign affairs resources.
The city has increased efforts to invite foreign entities and expand its presence globally. As a result, Chongqing's international network has grown, fostering broader exchanges with sister cities, solidifying partnerships, and paving the way for a wider path of friendship.
Chongqing and Nuevo León, a state in Mexico, were established as sister cities on November 12, 2013. Since then, their partnership has flourished, spanning various sectors, including local governance, trade, and smart manufacturing.

Located in northeastern Mexico, bordering the US state of Texas, Nuevo León is known for its robust steel, glass, and automotive parts industries. The state places a high emphasis on infrastructure development and education, with the Autonomous University of Nuevo León standing as one of Mexico's foremost public universities, boasting a Confucius Institute among its offerings.
The Mexican company Nemak invested in Chongqing, primarily producing aluminum cylinder heads, engine blocks, and automobile suspension system components. In June 2012, it settled in the Yufu Industrial Park in the Liangjiang New Area, primarily supporting Chang'an Ford.
In December 2019, the Chongqing Council for the Promotion of International Trade organized over ten companies to participate in a business matchmaking event in Mexico, signaling the commitment to enhance bilateral economic cooperation.
Amidst the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Nuevo León and Chongqing reciprocally assisted each other by recommending channels for procuring medical supplies and vaccines.
In July 2021, representatives from Chongqing and Nuevo León jointly participated in a Sino-Mexican local government economic and trade exchange video conference organized by the China People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Association of Economic Development Secretaries of Mexican States.
In October 2023, representatives from Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People's Government, Chongqing Industrial Vocational College, and delegates from Chang'an Automotive held discussions with the Governor of Nuevo León in Beijing.
