Chongqing is focusing on the development of the "33618" modern manufacturing cluster system, upgrading the industrial structure, and striving to establish a nationally significant advanced manufacturing center.
The intelligent connected new-energy vehicle (NEV) industry is one of the three leading industries within Chongqing's "33618" modern manufacturing cluster system, and it is also a vital track for the development of new quality productive forces.
In recent years, Chongqing has continuously promoted the accelerated development of the automotive industry towards the utilization of new energy sources, intelligence, networking, high-end, and greenization. The remarkable achievements in the development of intelligent connected new-energy vehicle (NEV) industry are evident and commendable.
As of the end of 2023, Chongqing has a total of 20 complete vehicle enterprises, including leading domestic companies such as Changan, SAIC, Dongfeng, Geely, and GWM. The product range covers the full spectrum of light, heavy, passenger, micro, and sedan vehicles, with complete technical routes and development models for new energy vehicles, including pure electric, plug-in hybrid, extended-range electric, hydrogen fuel, and battery swapping technologies.
Over 1,200 auto parts enterprises are above the designated size, equipped with complete supply systems for major assemblies such as engines, transmissions, power batteries, and drive motors.
Chongqing's intelligent, connected new-energy vehicles have made significant progress in brand building, industrial chain cultivation, and facility support. With over 300 enterprises in the industrial chain, the city has formed the most complete industrial chain in western China. It leads the nation in intelligent connected vehicle pilot programs, battery swapping models, and the promotion of hydrogen fuel vehicles.
