On May 20, the launching ceremony of the 2024 "5·19 China Tourism Day" Chongqing (Wulong) branch and the Wulong Tourism 30-year series of activities was grandly held at Xinglong Square in Wulong District, Chongqing.

About 500 people, including leaders from Chongqing municipal departments, leaders from friendly and cooperative provinces and cities, the mayor of Machu Picchu in Peru, and tourism experts and scholars, gathered to witness the glorious history and new chapter of Wulong's tourism development.
He Qing, Secretary of the Wulong District Party Committee, delivered a speech at the event. He said that Wulong is currently focused on accelerating the construction of a "world-renowned tourist destination and green development innovation demonstration zone" and deeply promoting the "third wave of entrepreneurship" in Wulong tourism led by internationalization. The aim is to accelerate the creation of the country's first batch of world-class tourist attractions and resorts. Efforts will be made to establish a "culture and tourism anchor store" in the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, a Wulong model where tourism drives common prosperity, and a high-quality life demonstration area that benefits the people.
Zhao Mingquan, a Party Committee of the Chongqing Municipal Culture and Tourism Commission member and a second-level inspector, said in his speech that Wulong has regarded tourism as its primary industry for the past 30 years. Wulong's tourism quality has dramatically improved, its product system has become increasingly complete, and its brand influence continues to grow, making it an important tourist destination in China. The Municipal Culture and Tourism Commission will continue to vigorously support Wulong District in refining tourism products, expanding the market size, strengthening brand marketing, and promoting the high-quality development of Wulong cultural tourism.
Ma Yinghua, member of the Standing Committee of the Wulong District Committee and deputy district chief, conducted on-site signings with the heads of nine companies, involving a total of nine projects with a total investment of 21.95 billion yuan. Once completed and operational, these projects are expected to achieve an annual output value of 5.42 billion yuan.
In the future, Wulong will continue to promote the "third wave of entrepreneurship" in Wulong tourism, led by internationalization. This will involve introducing market entities, creating new consumption scenarios, generating new market demands, enriching the supply of cultural tourism products, stimulating market consumption vitality, and further enhancing the influence of the Wulong tourism brand.
