Join or Ban TikTok? That’s the Question

Chongqing—Donald Trump recently opened his account on TikTok. However, several years ago, he tried to ban it. The incumbent US president, Joe Biden, has done the same thing. On April 24, he signed a bill that could lead to a ban on TikTok unless the popular social media platform is divested from its Chinese parent company ByteDance. Ironically, Biden himself just joined the platform this February. 

Why do American politicians open accounts on TikTok, which they claimed was a so-called "threat" from China, while trying to ban the popular app? Let's take a look.
