Chongqing - On September 3, the Chongqing Municipal People's Government and the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) signed a strategic cooperation agreement to promote the high-quality development of Chongqing's civil aviation industry.
The agreement outlines plans for practical collaboration in areas such as establishing a regional gateway with a multi-functional international aviation hub, enhancing airport infrastructure, expanding the aviation industry, and supporting civil aviation units based in Chongqing.

Yuan Jiajun, Secretary of the Communist Party of China Chongqing Municipal Committee, expressed deep appreciation for the CAAC's longstanding support of Chongqing's economic and social development. He emphasized the city’s commitment to advancing institutional innovation and accelerating the implementation of key national strategies, including the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and the development of national strategic hinterlands.
Yuan also highlighted Chongqing's role in pioneering new models for the governance of megacities, aiming to establish the city as a crucial inland opening-up hub and a significant engine for high-quality national development. He expressed hope that the CAAC would continue to support Chongqing by enhancing cooperation in planning and constructing major aviation projects, nurturing aviation hub operators, expanding international air routes, and developing both the aviation and low-altitude economy sectors.
These efforts are designed to foster the creation of a world-class airport cluster in the Chengdu-Chongqing region and solidify Chongqing's status as a comprehensive inland opening-up hub.
In response, Song Zhiyong, CAAC Administrator, acknowledged Chongqing's strategic location and the remarkable progress achieved in the city's economic and social sectors. Song assured that the CAAC would maintain and strengthen communication and coordination with Chongqing, deepening cooperation across various fields. The CAAC will focus on enhancing resource allocation to support Chongqing's high-quality economic and social development and ensure the successful execution of major national strategies.
With this commitment, both parties aim to bolster Chongqing's growth and its vital role in national development, reinforcing its position as a key player on the regional and global stage.
