According to official sources from GWM, the two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on the latest achievements, progress, and plans for investment projects in Egypt.
Madbouly welcomed GWM's introduction of advanced new energy, intelligent, and globalized products to Egypt and expressed hope that the company would continue to enhance its investment and cooperation in the country.
Wei stated, "The Egyptian government is accelerating the transition to new energy, which is critical to the social and automotive investment environment, and GWM’s goals align with those of Egypt."
Egypt is the second-largest automobile market in Africa, second only to South Africa. In 2022, Egypt launched a national strategy to localize the automotive industry and established the Supreme Council for the Automotive Industry to promote the localization of vehicle production, especially electric vehicles.
According to Egyptian official data, in the first quarter of 2024, the number of newly registered new energy vehicles in Egypt exceeded 1,419, surpassing the total sales for the entire previous year. Chinese brands such as BYD, Geely, Zeekr, and NIO dominated the market.

GWM entered the Egyptian market in 2008 and currently has 25 stores there. According to GWM, its models Haval H6 and Haval Jolion have ranked among the top 10 in sales in their respective segments in Egypt. In October of this year, GWM's new energy model, the Haval H6, will be launched in Egypt, offering local consumers a new option for green travel.
Established in 1984, Great Wall Motor is a private Chinese automobile manufacturer. As one of the early companies to emerge from rural areas, GWM has experienced the economic progress resulting from over 40 years of China's reform and opening-up. In 2023, the company sold over 1.23 million vehicles, ranking 10th among all Chinese automakers and 3rd among private ones.
Currently, GWM has six operational factories in China, with two more under construction.
