Chongqing - On September 25, the Goodyear China Western Distribution Center Project was officially signed and settled at Chongqing Xiyong Comprehensive Bonded Zone in Western (Chongqing) Science City.
The project will transport 40 containers annually through the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC), with a cargo value of approximately 20 million yuan and a growth rate of over 30%. It's expected to reach 50 million yuan in annual trade and surpass 100 million yuan within three years.
The project will be executed in three phases: constructing an aviation material distribution center, a bonded service center for engineering tires, and an innovative bonded processing and remanufacturing service center for tires.
The project's first phase will focus on establishing an aviation materials distribution center. This center will provide comprehensive services, including material distribution, storage management, bonded leasing, and manufacturing, to support the construction of the ILSTC.
It will facilitate deeper cooperation in the aviation sector under the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity; the project will contribute to building a full industrial chain in aviation within Western (Chongqing) Science City, propelling Chongqing’s aviation industry towards high-quality, large-scale, and clustered development.
The first phase also seeks to capitalize on the ILSTC’s lower overall logistics costs, enabling Goodyear to transport aviation tires and other materials from Southeast Asia to the Xiyong Comprehensive Bonded Zone.
Within the Xiyong Comprehensive Bonded Zone, a digital intelligent service platform will be established, integrating online and offline functions to provide efficient distribution, storage management, and other aviation material services to airlines and schools across China. This is expected to create a new, highly efficient system for distributing aviation materials, helping aviation enterprises reduce operating costs and improve flight efficiency.
The zone is home to 17 logistics projects, including electronic components, automotive parts, bonded cultural trade, vehicle warehousing, and cross-border e-commerce. From January to August 2024, it achieved an import-export volume of RMB 183.63 billion, showing strong growth despite global economic challenges, and hosts major players like Intel, HP, and SK Hynix.
Founded in 2012, Goodyear, a Fortune Global 500 company, ranks among the world’s top tire manufacturers. It is the only tire maker capable of producing commercial, general, and military aviation tires.
With a new tire production and retreading plant in Thailand and a sales office in Singapore, Goodyear supplies and supports the aviation sector across the region. The Chongqing distribution center will benefit from the ILSTC's cost-effective logistics, delivering crucial aviation materials to airlines and schools across China.
