Chongqing - KH Automotive Technologies Co., Ltd. (KHAT) has launched its southwest production base in Chongqing's Jinfeng Industrial Park. The facility includes three production lines for air springs and has an annual capacity of 300,000 single-chamber units.
This development addresses a critical gap in the supply of high-end core components for new energy vehicles in Chongqing. It significantly increases the local supply rate of high-end luxury cars produced in the region.
Guo Gulin, Production Director of KHAT, stated that automotive air springs adjust the vehicle's height and suspension stiffness by regulating internal air pressure, enhancing comfort and handling performance across various road conditions. Due to their high complexity and cost, air springs were historically limited to luxury models priced over one million yuan ($140,530).

However, with KHAT's technological breakthroughs, their air springs are now effectively used in models such as Changan’s Avatr 12, Avatr 07, Deepal G318, and Qiyuan E07, significantly boosting their luxury appeal and market competitiveness.
Zheng Liang, KHAT's General Manager, emphasized the company's focus on the growing demand for electronic suspension systems among domestic automakers. The company has been increasing its research and development investments and mastering core technologies related to system matching, electronic control software, and process design.
By reducing production costs, KHAT has successfully provided more competitive air springs for domestic brands compared to foreign suppliers. This has facilitated local supply chain development and product optimization, helping local brands solidify their presence in the luxury car market.
To further enhance local supply chain capabilities, KHAT commenced production of the main components for air springs—specifically, piston components—in Chongqing last year. The company is currently the only high-tech enterprise in China capable of full-process development and supply of passenger car electronic suspension systems.

In collaboration with Changan Automobile, KHAT has developed an air spring compatible with multiple vehicle models based on the SDA platform, which includes SUVs, sedans, and MPVs. This collaborative approach has placed increased demands on KHAT's technical team. Zheng disclosed that a joint technical development team was formed with Changan, leading to the establishment of management standards based on extensive data analysis and simulation validation to ensure timely project completion.
Data indicates that from January to July 2024, KHAT's air suspension systems reached an installation volume of 160,000 units, capturing a 40.3% market share, positioning it as the leading supplier in the air suspension sector. Guo also mentioned that 11 projects with Changan have entered mass production, expecting to develop 26 new projects by 2025. Additionally, KHAT is in discussions with local manufacturer Seres for potential cooperation.
