"Although his car features parking assistance, Changan’s technology is impressive—it allows the vehicle to park itself even without someone inside", said Nicola Boccini, Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts of Perugia and the Italian Design Institute, after seeing a vehicle autonomously parked itself into a spot under staff supervision.

Inside the showroom, designers were captivated by Changan’s models, including the new energy vehicle (NEV) brands Avatr and Deepal. As they explored the vehicles and examined the cockpits, they asked questions like, “Are these cars available in Europe?” and “What new energy technologies do they use?” Their reactions showed clear admiration for the innovation coming out of Chongqing.

Giusi Vaccanio, Art Director of Catoni Associati, praised the futuristic design of Changan’s models and noted that now is a proper moment for the brand to enter the European market. However, she also pointed out that some of the larger off-road vehicles might not be suitable for narrow urban streets in cities like Florence, where she lives.

Boccini added that cars are like mobile homes to drivers—comfort matters. Changan’s vehicles, he said, offer a strong sense of comfort at a reasonable price, which he believes will appeal to European buyers.

According to Changan’s earlier 2025 Europe Brand Event in Germany, the company is accelerating its expansion into the European market. By the end of 2025, Changan plans to enter at least 10 regional markets across Europe and aims to establish a full business presence by 2028. The first model tailored for Europe, the Deepal S07, is expected to launch in Q2 2025. Over the next three years, Changan will introduce eight models to meet the diverse needs of European consumers.
