Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport Expands Int’l Flight Network Starting January 2026

Chongqing - To meet increasing travel demand, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport has announced a major expansion of its international flight network starting in January 2026. The airport, in collaboration with several airlines, is increasing flight frequencies on seven popular international and regional routes — primarily targeting destinations in Southeast and South Asia.

Key Route Expansions:

Chongqing ⇋ Bangkok: 42 Flights per Week

  • Starting January 12, Hainan Airlines will increase its Bangkok service to one daily flight.

  • Beginning February 1, Chongqing Airlines will launch a new Chongqing ⇋ Bangkok route, operating four times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday), increasing to daily service in March.

  • Once fully implemented, there will be 42 weekly flights between Chongqing and Bangkok.

Chongqing ⇋ Kuala Lumpur: 25 Flights per Week

  • From March 13 to April 20, Xiamen Airlines will double its service to two daily flights.

  • Starting March 29, Sichuan Airlines will add a daily flight on the same route.

  • This will bring the total to 25 weekly flights between Chongqing and Kuala Lumpur.

Chongqing ⇋ Ho Chi Minh City: 8 Flights per Week

  • From January 29, Air China will increase to five weekly flights.

  • Beginning February 3, Chongqing Airlines will add three weekly flights.

  • In total, passengers will have access to eight flights per week, with a direct 3-hour journey to Ho Chi Minh City.

Chongqing ⇋ Colombo ⇋ Malé

  • Resumes January 10, operated by Chongqing Airlines with three weekly flights (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday).

Chongqing ⇋ Seoul

  • From January 24, Air China will increase its service to one flight per day.

  • From March 30, Asiana Airlines resumes its Chongqing ⇋ Seoul route with daily service, bringing the total to 14 weekly flights.

Chongqing ⇋ Singapore: Record-Breaking Service

  • Between February 12 and 28, Air China will increase to two flights daily.

  • This brings the total to 31 weekly flights, marking a new record for the Chongqing–Singapore route.

A Growing Global Network

With the expanded schedule, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport will operate 38 international and regional routes, offering over 240 international flights per week. The network connects Chongqing to major global destinations, including:

  • North America: Seattle

  • Europe: London, Paris, Rome, Milan, Brussels, Madrid, Budapest

  • Oceania: Sydney, Auckland

  • Middle East: Dubai, Doha

  • Asia: Singapore, Seoul, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Hanoi, Jakarta, and more

This expansion supports the airport's goal of building a comprehensive, multidimensional international air travel network spanning North America, Europe, Oceania, the Middle East, Northeast Asia, and Southeast Asia.

Visa-Free Travel Boosts Convenience

Travelers holding an ordinary Chinese passport can now enjoy visa-free entry to the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore, with a maximum single stay of 30 days and no more than 90 days in total within any 180 days.
