Chongqing - The 20th Meeting of the Chongqing Mayor’s International Economic Advisory Council (CMIA) concluded on September 23, with global leaders sharing insights on technology and industry, while companies including AT&S, Corning and Adient announced new cooperation outcomes in Chongqing.
The two-day meeting gathered 32 advisory companies from 11 countries, including the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Singapore, France, Japan and Switzerland. The members include Fortune Global 500 companies and industry leaders across sectors.
Three global automotive suppliers — Aumovio, Lear Corporation and Vibracoustic — joined the council this year as new members, strengthening ties between Chongqing and leading companies in the intelligent connected new energy vehicle sector and electronic information industries.

At the keynote meeting, 20 advisors drew on their companies' global experience and their understanding of Chongqing's industrial strengths to offer suggestions on advancing technology cooperation. Their recommendations included building stronger platforms for cross-border research, improving mechanisms for technology commercialization, and creating more opportunities for global companies to participate in Chongqing's innovation-driven development.
The advisors highlighted that technological innovation increasingly depends on global collaboration, open networks, movement of knowledge and resources across borders. They suggested that Chongqing further develop international innovation cooperation platforms, and establish a global service system to support the overseas expansion of Chongqing-made vehicles.
They also emphasized the importance of connecting innovation resources with real-world applications. Suggestions included accelerating the adoption of industrial AI in key sectors, exploring new models combining AI with smart city development, and creating platforms that help transform emerging technologies into commercial applications.
Beyond strategic discussions, the meeting also generated concrete cooperation outcomes between global companies and Chongqing.
AT&S plans to invest tens of millions of euros to expand its Chongqing factory, while Corning will increase investment in the city by upgrading production lines and expanding its local technology center.
Adient will introduce advanced technologies, including automated sewing, AI-powered visual inspection and robotics applications, with plans to use Chongqing as an important base for scaling up innovation in research and manufacturing.
Moreover, the meeting also featured, for the first time, a dedicated exhibition showcasing Chongqing's latest scientific and technological achievements. Covering areas such as intelligent connected new energy vehicles, advanced equipment manufacturing, low-altitude economy and biomedicine, the exhibition provided a platform for global companies to connect with local innovation enterprises.
Over the past two decades, CMIA has become an important bridge connecting Chongqing with global companies and expertise. Through continued dialogue and cooperation, the city aims to attract more international innovation resources and strengthen its role in global industrial and technology networks.
