On the afternoon of December 22, the snow-capped Fairy Mountain, located in Wulong County, Chongqing, ushered in a group wedding that follows the etiquette of the Han Dynasty for 99 couples and staged a beautiful love of past and present.

Those couples hold in hand, with love to end, across borders and regardless of age.

The breathtaking ice and snow wedding ceremony sent the 99 couples back to the Han Dynasty and gave them unforgettable memories.

A solemn ceremony

The leader of Fairy Mountain Scenic Area introduced that the 99 couples came from more than 30 provinces and cities from all over China. Moreover, there were pairs of newlyweds from foreign countries such as Russia.

"Uphold the wine in a chaplet and official robes, toast to the heaven and bow to the earth."

In the holy snowfield of Fairy Mountain, the 99 couples have promised a sweet vow to love each other for the rest of their lives. Besides, tens of thousands of spectators from throughout China gathered to witness the solemn wedding.

At the wedding ceremony, in the flying snowflakes, those newlyweds performed their rituals enthusiastically and devoutly following the tradition: cleaning hands and faces, having the same meal, drinking cross-cupped wine, raising the tassel and tying the hair, and holding hands.

The couple who were both over 70 years old was the oldest couple in the group wedding. They had celebrated their golden wedding (50th anniversary). They told us their granddaughter signed up for them and it was really a big surprise. When life came to this phase, they only hoped to walk even further and closer together.

A foreign couple

At the ceremony, there was also a pair of particularly noticeable foreign couple from Russia who has been in China for several years. They have been deeply attracted by Chinese culture from the very beginning. Also, it was Chinese culture that brought them together.

This is a traditional wedding ceremony which they had never thought of or seen before. They could not only enjoy themselves in traditional Chinese culture with their lover in a romantic snow scene, but also perform the most important ceremony in their lives. Therefore, they would never forget it.

Li Yaoguo, Deputy Secretary General of Chongqing Federation of Literary and Art Circles attended the group wedding and pointed out that the Han-style wedding featuring elegance and solemnness is a traditional ethnic one that can embody classic culture. Thus, the ceremony held by Fairy Mountain was of great significance to the promotion of the Chinese traditional culture.
