Situated in Dasheng Town, Yubei District, Chongqing, Yungui Mountain, or Cloud Tortoise Mountain, got its name from the giant tortoise-like shape. The scenic spot is characterized by high mountains, precipitous cliffs, emerald forests, colorful flowers, and fog scenes. Its peak is 1,038 meters above sea level. Standing on the ridge, visitors can overlook Changshou District to the east, the downtown of Yubei District to the west, the whole Dahong Lake to the north. The steep cliffs here, three kilometers high, are commonly known as "white cliffs" given the white color of the rocks. It is a natural place for climbing and adventuring.
In March, a vast area of wild cherry trees here will be in full bloom.
The place is an undeveloped forest park with original ecological features among the municipal scenic areas.
Here visitors can find cherry trees that are over 500 years old.
Nearly 700 hectares of wild cherry trees will bloom in spring. With flowers spreading all over the mountain, a perfect picture will be presented.
When spring comes, and winter goes, the cherry-trees will put forth their blossoms, waiting for your visit.
With an altitude of more than 1,038 meters, the whole mountain, covered by the original ecological forest vegetation, is like a fairyland in the sea of clouds.
There are also a variety of native stone forest groups with diverse shapes, as well as cultural landscapes such as hanging coffins of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Guanyin (a Buddhism goddess) Pavilion of Baiyun Temple and the relic site of Balianjiao, or White Lotus Society (an ancient secret religious society).
