Chongqing Establishes the Belt and Road International Skills Research Institute

On July 18, the Belt and Road International Skills Research Institute was established in Chongqing. The Institute will further promote the exchange and integration of international skills for the BRI, and enhance China's influence in the field of international skills development.

Skills and trades will be on display during the global skills competition

According to the relevant personnel in charge of Chongqing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, the Institute originated from the Belt and Road International Skills Competition held in Chongqing in May this year. The competition is held in China with the largest number of countries and regions invited and the most foreign participants, attracting 698 skilled elites from 44 countries and regions to compete in Chongqing.

With the purpose of promoting the exchange and integration of international skills for the BRI and enhancing China's influence in the field of international skills development, Chongqing Wuyi Senior Technical School, under the support and guidance of Chongqing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, has actively planned to establish the Institute, with its office located in the school.

"The Institute has set up the Comprehensive Service Department, the Talent Cooperation Department, the International Exchange Department, the Technical Standards Research Department, the Competition Affairs Department, and the Results Promotion Department." The personnel in charge told the reporter that the Institute will adhere to the positioning of "international skilled talent training and evaluation, international skills competition operation and research, international skills cooperation and exchange and international skill standards research and practice", build itself into a research base integrating skill development, talent cultivation, expert training, market operation, technical promotion and competition management, and drive, lead and demonstrate the development of international skills and training of high-skilled talents for the BRI.

De Maria Donna Irene Chief Expert of Hairdressing of the World Skills Competition, believes that the holding of skills competitions is aimed at promoting friendship and exchanges between countries and that the establishment of the Institute will expand communication among countries in the field of skills and promote the continuous development of skills.
