Spots to See Night View

Soaring in the cableway car above the city is a unique and one-of-a-kind way to get a look at Chongqing! The 1166-meter-long cableway will take about 5 minutes for one way, and it only takes ¥20 one way. It is suggested to take the round-way trip, and the price is ¥30 for the round-way trip.

For an even higher view of the city, the Yikeshu look-out point on Nanshan Mountain is a perfect choice.  There are also Tushan scenic spots such as Tushan Park, Sankuaishi Stone (Three-Stone Scenic Point), and DaJinying Viewing Platform on the mountain that all boast spectacular views as well as a Daoist monastery with more than 500 years of history.

Hongyadong (Hongya Cave), Nanbinlu Road, and Jiangbeizui are all popular places to go by the riverside.  Whether it is having a drink at a trendy lounge, eating spicy hotpot on a boat, or BBQ by the river, there are tons of ways to delight the senses in the mountain metropolis.

For a pleasant walk by the riverside, Nanbinlu Road is the ideal choice.  There are many parks and scenic areas, including Nanbin Park, Rongqiao Park, and so on. You can also go to Haitang Yanyu Square, to gaze at the city lights while you stroll for a pleasant walk along the river.

Chaotianmen, meaning “the gate facing heaven,” is at the tip of the Yuzhong peninsula that makes up the oldest and most central part of Chongqing and stands at the junction of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers.  From here, you can enjoy boat-side eating and markets as well as incredible views of the city and the mountains beyond.

By CRT

Chongqing’s rail transit system (CRT) is something like a roller-coaster, with light rail lines speeding in and out of mountains and over rivers, and nothing like you’ve ever seen before.  Enjoy the view as you ride the CRT over the river to your next destination!

By Boat

Being a “river city” at heart, the most natural way to enjoy the skyline is on a cruise along the Jialing or Yangtze rivers.  Cruises range from affordable to luxury.
