In order to adapt to the rapid recovery and development of the postal and telecommunication industry in new China, CQUPT was born. In 1950, the school started the road of hard work. The school started to train postgraduates in 1963, and in 1965 became one of the only 10 colleges and universities in Sichuan Province that had the right to enroll master students at that time. In just 10 years, the school has delivered nearly 5,000 master's degree students, undergraduates and secondary professionals to the post and telecommunications industry of new China. Since China opened up to the world in 1978, the school has kept pace with the times, expanded its disciplines, deepened its educational and teaching reforms, and promoted the all-round development of students. From the 1990s to the present, the school has inherited the fine tradition of hard work and pioneering, seized opportunities, accelerated development, comprehensively promoted quality education and cultivation of innovative talents, and made the school one of the main bases for cultivating advanced specialists in the field of post and telecommunications communication in China.

Over 70 years, CQUPT has persisted in scientific development, highlighted the characteristics of schooling, promoted reform and innovation, expanded openness and cooperation, and strengthened internal improvement, cultivating a large number of talents for the country and society and making outstanding contributions to the development of science and technology.
