Alibaba Cloud Innovation Center (Chongqing) (the Innovation Center) is going to open at the end of May, thanks to the joint efforts of Liangjiang New Area, Alibaba Cloud and Tsinghua Technology & Innovation Holdings Co., Ltd. In the next three years, it plans to incubate at least 100 small digital economy enterprises. These 100 small enterprises will settle down in the Innovation Center will receive a Cloud Service Subsidy valuing RMB 2 million from the Liangjiang New Area.

Priority supporting enterprises of emerging industry

The Innovation Center sits in the Chongqing Internet Industrial Park in Liangjiang New Area. The 11,280-square-meter land encompasses independent functional zones for offices, meetings, negotiation, roadshows, etc.

Relying on Alibaba Cloud ecosystem and the platform of Liangjiang New Area, this project is committed to incubating SMEs in the digital economy, while building a relevant closed system incorporating new technologies and industries, including cloud computing, big data, IoT, AI, and mobile internet. Once coming into being, it is poised to become a powerful engine of the digital economy in Chongqing.

The Innovation Center will pool leading companies from above-mentioned industries, attract micro-, small- and medium-sized innovative companies, and start-ups, woo industrial talent from universities and research institutes, and involve the third-party professional service organizations. Additionally, it should put high-quality enterprises, partners, R&D talent from domestic and overseas digital economy industry in right positions.

Providing a Cloud Service Subsidy of RMB 2 million for Settled Enterprises

Lin Xiao, head of the operating company of the Innovation Center, said: “In the next three years, we plan to incubate 100 small- and medium-sized digital economy enterprises.”

Fundamental supports from the Innovation Center include carrier service, incubation service, and entrepreneur service. Start-ups located there are entitled to use ecological resources for enterprise development provided by Alibaba cloud computing, so as to realize holistic upgrade in technologies, resources, market, data and application scenarios.

Meanwhile, Liangjiang New Area will offer a Cloud Service Subsidy valuing RMB 2 million for them. It is worth noting that the Innovation Center is expected to unveil the Cloud X Program at the Opening Ceremony when several Alibaba Cloud digital economy start-ups will be present.

The Innovation Center Will Benefit Technology Enterprises in Southeast Asia

According to Sha Wei, Operation Director of the Alibaba Cloud Innovation Center, there are over 50 such centers across the country. Chongqing, however, will become the third key player (together with Beijing and Hangzhou) due to its special geolocation.

Combining with China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity and the Belt and Road Initiative, the Innovation Center will benefit Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and other countries in Southeast Asia. With such efforts, technology start-ups from them will come to Chongqing for further development.

Mr. Sha also said as soon as the Innovation Center is put into operation, a series of innovative technology companies from Singapore would pay a field visit there.

Another surprise is the Cloud Intelligent College, which is to train talent for the digital economy industry in Chongqing. It will rely on the Innovation Center, introduce high-quality industry-education integrated resources that are suitable for regional industrial development, build and share a practice and training base, and establish a new coordinated training model that aims to import and export professionals.
