November 15 is the fourth day after the 2018 Chinese Super League. Dutch Jordi Cruijff boarded the flight home and started his holiday. Up to now, he had served as head coach of Chongqing SWM Football Club for 100 days. As the son of the deceased international football superstar Johan Cruijff, he succeeded in relegating the previously volatile team to the 13th place in the League during the 100 days.

Experience about Chongqing

“I like Chongqing because it changes every week,” Cruijff Jr. said.

The past 100 days gave Cruijff Jr. the best opportunity to “uncover the mystery of China”. He has also registered Weibo account to check his fans’ messages at any time.

“In fact, China is mysterious to most foreigners. I come here to unveil the mystery of China step by step, which is an interesting process,” said Cruijff Jr.

Busy work left Cruijff Jr. no time to the renowned tourist attractions around Chongqing. In his spare time, he went to some popular sites in the main urban areas such as Ciqikou and Hongya Cave. He also went to Liziba to see the light rail run through the building. “When I passed by Liziba, I saw a lot of people taking pictures and recording videos, which was interesting,” he said. But what he loves most is the night view of Chongqing. “I like Chongqing very much, and enjoy walking along Binjiang Road under the twinkling lights.” The only regret for him is the food. “I really can’t do with spicy food,” he said.

Club Chef Zheng Quan introduced, “Usually, Cruijff Jr. only eats chicken breast, salad and bread, and seasoning is a little olive oil. As a coach, it’s hard to be so disciplined in the diet.”

Cruijff Jr. also had a new understanding of Chinese football.

In the last 100 days, Cruijff Jr. gained a new understanding of Chinese football. He believes that there are both advantages and disadvantages of Chinese football. Chinese football still needs a long-term to integrate the world’s advanced experience with its local characteristics. “Chinese football is doing so, but it is difficult and will take a long time. However, I firmly believe that Chinese football will have a bright future,” he said.
