Chongqing—According to Pengshui County on April 25, “the 8th Wujiang Miao Caihuashan Festival and Aquatic Sports Competition of Pengshui County” will be held on May 12 in Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County, Chongqing.

The event includes two major activities. The first one is the sacrificial ceremony to Chiyou, who is honored as the God of War and one of the three legendary founding fathers of China, on the morning of May 12 in Chiyou Jiuli Town. On the ceremony, Miao people from all over the country follow their leading elder and worship their ancestor Chiyou. The opening ceremony of the 8th Wujiang Miao Caihuashan Festival, also known as the Valentine’s Day of the Miao nationality, will follow. On that day, nearly ten thousand Miao people, in beautiful festive costumes, gather in Chiyou Jiuli Town. They sing the song of “Find the Goddess: Jiao A Yi” and dance together to celebrate the traditional Caihuashan Festival.

the 9th China Motorboat League “Taijishui Cup” Chongqing Pengshui Station & China-America-Australia Artistic Water Skiing Competition will be held in Pengshui.

As the major activity of the Aquatic Sports Competition in Pengshui, the 9th China Motorboat League “Taijishui Cup” Chongqing Pengshui Station & China-America-Australia Artistic Water Skiing Competition will gather nearly 20 teams from domestic professional motorboat teams at a high level and many water skiing elites representing China, the United States, and Australia. There will also hold four professional events, including the formula motorboat (F4) racing, motorboat racing in sitting posture, motorboat racing in standing posture, and water racer competition, as well as amateur and artistic water skiing competitions.

Pengshui County boasts rich tourism resources, among which the Ayi River is striving to be a national 5A tourist attraction. Moreover, it also embraces three national 4A tourist attractions including Chiyou Jiuli Town, Mowei Mountain, and Wujiang River Gallery, as well as numerous excellent scenic spots such as Yushan Ancient Town, Anzi Miao Village, Shangan Zhoujia Village, and Gaogu Xinglong Village. Pengshui County has won the titles of “Top 10 Tourist Destination in China”, “A Tourist Resort with Chinese Characteristics”, and “Top 10 Travel-Friendly District/County in Chongqing” successively.
