On June 14, Chongqing Mobile 520 Family Merry Making Festival was held in the open laboratory of China Mobile 5G Joint Innovation Center. Nearly 100 citizens came to the laboratory to experience 5G+VR, 5G smart tourism, 5G smart transportation, and other 5G applied technologies, and experienced the changes that 5G technology will bring to the future.

Since the 5G network possesses the characteristics of broad bandwidth, low delay, and high reliability, the robots can be integrated with the 5G network module and be connected to the cloud at any time. Functions such as voice interaction and autonomous navigation can be achieved by using big data, intelligent vision computing, and high precision positioning. Features such as remote control and remote monitoring can be realized by using high-definition image transmission and artificial auxiliary background connection.

On the other side of the exhibition hall, the logistics robots are delivering large shelves to designated locations, with extreme precision. With the advantages of a 5G network, the robots can automatically drive to the shelves and lift them to the distribution station as per the order demand and inventory info. This technology has been widely used in Tmall, JD.com, and Amazon.

In terms of 5G urban application, 5G crewless ships and landslide detection systems were on display. By making use of 5G technology, the landslide system can send an alarm to the back-end centralized control platform when detecting loose soil after a detector is placed in the ground. According to reported scale and degree of soil looseness, the phenomenon can be automatically analyzed by back-end platform based on the AI-mechanical learning technology, and alarms can be sent to nearby pedestrians and vehicles to make disaster predictions and early warning.

In September 2017, the open laboratory of China Mobile 5G Joint Innovation Center officially settled in Chongqing. The opening of the 5G laboratory in Liangjiang New Area will usher in a new era of Internet of Things, Internet of Vehicles, Industrial Internet, Cloud Robot, etc. based on intelligent interconnection in Liangjiang New Area and even Chongqing, and accelerate the reform in medical treatment, automobile, industry, transportation, and so on.
