A series of travel facilitation policies such as 72-hour Transit Visa-Free and VAT Refund Policy for Overseas Visitors are issued by Chongqing local government. According to Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, upon the approval of the State Council, Chongqing Port implements 72-hour transit visa-free policy to the foreign nationals with valid visa and air ticket with confirmed date and seat of flight for a third country (region) traveling within 72 hours (the scope of activities during the visa-free period is limited to the administrative area of Chongqing).
53 countries in Europe, Oceania, America, and Asia are covered by this transit visa exemption policy.
After submitting to the Ministry of Finance, the General Administration of Customs and the State Administration of Taxation for filing, Chongqing has implemented VAT refund policy for overseas visitors since 1st March 2018. After shopping at Chongqing designated tax refund stores, overseas visitors can apply for VAT refund at the International Departure Terminal of Terminal T3 of Jiangbei International Airport when departure, with tax refund rate of 11% (2% of service charge).
Tax refund policies can be enjoyed by Overseas, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan visitors who stay in Mainland China for no more than 183 days consecutively.
