Jung-gu, Busan Metropolitan City, Busan, South Korea

Busan Metropolitan City, or Busan for short, located in southeast South Korea, is the largest city and the largest port in southern South Korea, with prosperous trade.

Jung-gu, Busan Metropolitan City covers an area of 2.8 square kilometers, with a permanent population of more than 50,000 and a daily migrant population of 600,000. It houses administrative institutions such as Busan South Customs, Busan Local Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, financial institutions like the Head Office of Bank of Korea in Busan and the Busan Branch of Industrial Bank, and many enterprises related to Busan Trade Hall. Central District is the administrative, trade, financial, business, information, and communication center and the business area in the district that has formed the center of Busan business district. Metro Line 1 runs through the central district of the city. The international Coastal Passenger Terminal and No.1 and No.2 cargo terminals in the central district are the windows connecting Busan and the international community.

Jiulongpo District and Jung-gu were established as sister cities in July 2012.

Exchanges between Jiulongpo District and Jung-gu, Busan Metropolitan City

In April 2009, Ding Hong, Mayor of Jiulongpo District, led a delegation to visit South Korea and signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Friendly Cooperation between Jiulongpo District of Chongqing and Jung-gu, Busan Metropolitan City with Eun-sook Kim, Mayor of Jung-gu, Busan Metropolitan City. Subsequently, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Jung-gu, Busan Metropolitan City, respectively led a delegation to visit Jiulongpo District, promoting further exchanges and cooperation between the two districts.

In July 2019, Jiulongpo District invited Jung-gu, Busan Metropolitan City, South Korea, to attend Smart China Expo 2019 in Chongqing. But the Busan side failed to make it for schedule reasons.

In November 2019, after contacting with Jung-gu, Busan Metropolitan City, Jiulongpo District planned to send a delegation to visit the government of Jung-gu, Busan Metropolitan City to discuss the construction of sister cities, establish a mechanism for regular mutual visits, and study cooperation projects in business and trade, cultural tourism and other fields. The delegation was granted a task approval document. But for reasons of schedule adjustment and COVID-19, it has not paid a visit yet.

In February 2020, the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs donated COVID-19 protective supplies to Jiulongpo District, including 5,000 masks, 1,000 protection suits, 1,000 goggles, 1,000 pairs of disposable latex gloves, and 400 bottles of hand sanitizer.

In February 2020, Jung-gu, Busan Metropolitan City, sent a letter to care about the epidemic prevention and control work in Jiulongpo District.

In early April 2020, Jiulongpo District donated epidemic prevention materials to Jung-gu, Busan Metropolitan City, including 10,000 KF94 masks and 10,000 pairs of disposable gloves. In mid-April, Jiulongpo District received a letter of thanks from the Mayor of Jung-gu, Busan Metropolitan City.
