Which Team Will Outshine in the 2019 i-VISTA Grand Challenge?

On July 7, the Organizing Committee of 2019 Smart China Expo (SCE) announced that the 2019 i-VISTA Grand Challenge would kick off in Chongqing from August 24 to 29. So far, more than 30 competitive teams from domestic and foreign auto enterprises, universities and colleges, tech companies and start-ups have signed up. Among them, more than ten are from auto companies, making the event with the most significant number of participating auto companies in China.

The 2019 i-VISTA Grand Challenge aims to demonstrate the development level and status quo of China’s autonomous driving technology. Competitive teams include mainstream universities and colleges, scientific research institutes and auto enterprises. The advantages of the event lie in its comprehensive and reasonable driving scenario setting and prominent theme.

The event would be a test of FAW’s research and development achievements on autonomous driving and provide an opportunity to keep abreast of the research and development status quo of autonomous driving technology in China, to find potential technical partners, said the team leader of FAW Hongqi.

The environmental adaptability and reliability of Model Pro-Blue could be tested by Chongqing’s various climate conditions of high-temperature weather, humid heat and rain and fog, said the team leader of Model Pro-Blue of King Long.

Team of CS Series  of Changan

The members of the group are from Changan Intelligent Research Institute. The advantage of the model lies in its autonomous controllable technologies, many of which demonstrate the recent breakthroughs made by Changan.

Team of WitStar of GAC (Trumpchi)

At the Level 4 of autonomous driving, the competitive team of WitStar is independently developed by GAC and based on its Trumpchi new energy vehicle platform, which enjoys a high reputation in the artificial intelligence (AI) in China. The merits of the team rest with its host of mature parking schemes, Level 4 autonomous driving schemes, and abundant experience of competitions.

Team of Autonomous Driving of FAW Hongqi

The model, which is built on Hongqi E-HS3 pure electric platform, combines advanced technologies such as multi-dimensional sensing, multi-sensor fusion, and predictive control to achieve autonomous driving on limited urban roads and highways. The advantage of the model lies in its market demand-oriented sensor and hardware schemes, which reflects FAW’s fully autonomous driving software system.

Team of Mr. JAC

Mr. JAC can realize autonomous driving in the parks and structural roads and achieve the co-driving of people and vehicles in complex conditions on expressways. Its advantage lies in the drive-by-wire chassis control technology, environment sensing, and positioning technology and intelligent decision-making technology in complex scenarios.

Team of Hujiazhe  of JAC

The organization highlights its automated parking technology. The fully-automatic parking scheme with 12 ultrasonic radars and 4 HD cameras will be equipped with JAC’s mass-produced vehicles, thus giving them horizontal, vertical and diagonal and parallel parking and driving out functions. Its advantage lies in the adoption of a low-cost integration scheme that is conducive to cost control.

Team of Jingzhi  of BAIC JEV

The team will display its EX3, the third pure electric vehicle based on BAIC’s new energy “Darwin System.” Its advantage lies in the crossover SUV with long endurance mileage, high safety, and intelligence, which brings a brand-new experience to audiences.

Team of Micovast New Energy Vehicle

The group consists of several engineers with many years of experience in autonomous driving development. Its advantages focus on drive-by-wire chassis, upper layer decision-making control, and perceptual decision. All components respond in milliseconds and run more steadily through long-term accumulation and testing of algorithms and codes.

Team of Model Pro Blue of King Long

The group consists of a 4.3-meter-long L4-level autonomous coach and an 8-meter-long L3-level autonomous coach. The advantages of the two coaches lie in their dual redundant steer-by-wire steering and braking system with independent intellectual property rights, featuring high control accuracy and quick response, which can fully meet the application requirements of commercial vehicles in ADAS and autonomous driving.
