Chongqing has been actively promoting leisure agriculture and rural tourism in recent years. Here is a list for holiday destinations, where you can avoid the burning heat in summer while relaxing in beautiful landscapes.
Wuxi Hongchiba
After over a year of enclosed reconstruction, Hongchiba scenic spot reopened on July 1. Bayu B&B Hotel on Hongchiba Town is expected to be open to the public in early August. New Hongchiba welcomes greatly improved road traffic, landscapes, and reception capability.
Hongchiba is a national forest park, a national AAAA scenic spot, and one of the first batch of holiday tourism areas in Chongqing. It stands 1,800-2,630 meters above the sea level, and enjoys an average temperature of 17℃ in summer, turning the place into the highest and coolest holiday destination in Chongqing. Additionally, boasting over 30,000/cm of negative ion concentration, Hongchiba was included in the first batch of Chongqing Most Beautiful Forest Oxygen Bar. OCT Group plans to invest 26 billion RMB in three-phase development of Hongchiba, and the latter will become China’s most extensive alpine outdoor sports base.
Yunzhong Huahai is also expected to be upgraded. Hongchiba scenic spot will create ten exquisite flower patterns on the newly-added 0.67 km2 land. Moreover, new species like moss phlox and new planting methods will be introduced to extend the blossom season. Some chrysanthemums have blossomed, and others will bloom at the end of July. Additionally, construction of entrance of Western Liuxi Park, Chinese Red Birch Forest, Hanque Wetland, murals and decoration, calcified pond and ancient road, square, and other landscapes has been completed.
Hengshan in Qijiang District: 520,000 m2 Flower Fairyland

Hengshan · Flower Fairyland began soft opening on July 11. The scenic area covers a significant area of 520,000 m2, ideal for summer vacations and study tours integrating parent-child sightseeing and B&B. It is the closest leisure tourism destination from the main urban areas of Chongqing that has an elevation of over 1 kilometer.
Visitors can understand folk arts and historical and cultural background of Hengshan, through Kunci (a kind of Kun Opera), Yangxi (a folk opera), woodcuts about farmers and other intangible cultural heritage. Qijiang enjoys much delicious local food, such as Beidu Fish, Ganshui Dried Radish, Fanzaoyang, and Fuhuan Rice Noodles.
Nine-round winding mountain road, famous online, is also in Hengshan.

Fengdu Nantian Lake
Nantian Lake Scenic Resort is 45 kilometers away from Fengdu County and neighbors Wulong Fairy Mountain. It rests in luxuriant mountains with lush forests, stretching 100 square kilometers. This resort is also endowed with half a square kilometer of water, old-growth bamboo forests, karst cliffs, sky pits, geo-sutures, grasslands, oases, and mountain culture.
The altitude is from 1,495 meters to 1,950 meters, and the annual average temperature is 9.2°C with the highest temperature of 27°C. Thanks to the extraordinary ancient plateau lake, boundless forest sea, meandering paths in forests, delicacies from mountains, friendly locals, and refreshing and pleasant wild attractions, it is popular as an optimal destination for relieving summer heat. It also has complete facilities with Davos five-star hotel groups, becoming a resort for recuperation and vacation tour.
From July 6 to August 25, the first Carnival with Iced Beer, Camping, and Music will be held at Nantian Lake. Within 51 days, wonderful activities combining “eating, drinking, playing, and enjoying” will be held in turn, bringing you a memorable summer.
On August 3, the Semi-final of the 2019 Miss Tourism World — Chongqing Division will kick off on the Music Square of Nantian Lake Scenic Resort. The audience will have the chance to see not only the eye-catching competitions of the participants but also the shows presented by the previous champions and runners-up of China and two previous global third winners.

Chuanhegai Scenic Resort is located in the Yongdong Township, Xiushan County, 40 kilometers away from the county. It boasts a picturesque landscape, and the annual average temperature of 12.1°C also makes it a recommendable summer resort. It is home to peculiar geological features, with towering cliffs, deep gorges, grassland of about 6.67 square kilometers, phoenix rock & golden toad rock, sawtooth-shaped rock, comb-shaped hill, terraced fields, peristyle, general rock, etc. It is also equipped with the facilities of the star-themed hotel, round road, grassland and flower sea, camping base, outdoor activity base, etc.

Public Transportation: There are regular buses from Chongqing Sigongli Bus Hub Station to Fengdu County, with the ticket price of RMB 49 per person. The buses depart every 30 minutes from 6:30 to 18:30 every day and reach Fengdu County. Then, you need to take a taxi or other buses to the scenic resort.
Chuanhegai Scenic Resort of Xiushan County
Chuanhegai Scenic Resort is located in the Yongdong Township, Xiushan County, 40 kilometers away from the county. It boasts a picturesque landscape, and the annual average temperature of 12.1°C also makes it a recommendable summer resort. In June, the cableway themed on “sky ladders over the cloud” was put into operation. Due to the advanced detachable grip technique, the time needed from the county to the scenic resort has been cut from half an hour drive to five minutes by cablecar.
In summer, the grassland will be more than beautiful, embellished with pretty golden-yellow chrysanthemums and Galsang flowers. It is also an ideal destination for outdoor activities, with the mini sightseeing train, full-view VR, grass skiing, spider vehicle, game on the 45 road curves, etc.
