Beibei Jingguan Wintersweet Art Festival to Open in January

Winter is here. Although the season means coldness, it can also bring people different enjoyment. Besides snow and ski, Chongqing has wintersweet to enjoy.

Chongqing Beibei District is going to hold the 16th Jiangguan Wintersweet Art Festival and Flowers and Trees Trade Fair from January 5 to 27, 2019, according to local tourism authority.

The event co-hosts are the Beibei District People's GovernmentSouthwest University, and Chongqing Expressway Group. Moreover, the event is designed to enhance the reputation of Beibei city and increase the popularity of Jingguan Town as the hometown of flowers and trees. Focusing on wintersweet, it will further boost local tourism development, drive economic growth and improve people's livelihood, taking advantage of the expressway construction.

There are many sub-events for consumers to explore and engage. The opening ceremony, international road cycling open, flower arrangement competition as well as horticultural and floral lecture. In addition to these,  activities lasting for several days include matchmaking of production and sale of trees and flowers in Jiangguan, the New Year fair and the painting and calligraphy exhibition.

Jingguan Town: hometown of trees and flowers

Beibei Jingguan is famous for its 500-year-old history of cultivating wintersweet. The town ranks the first in China in terms of its cultivated area, abundant categories, flower stem and floral fragrance. At present, wintersweet covering an area of 10,000 mu, about 6.67 km2,  in Jingguan Town has been competing to bloom and has gradually entered the flowering period, adding a touch of color to the cold winter. Moreover, the flowering season will last to the Chinses Spring Festival, and the best time to come is from January 5 to 27.
