More Than 11 Million Visitors Toured Chongqing for the New Year

There were diverse cultural and tourist events from the end of 2018 till the beginning of 2019 in Chongqing. The city was bustling but well-regulated for the new year.

In the meantime, during the 3-day holiday for the New Year, Chongqing embraced 11.84 million visitors home and abroad. It increased its year-on-year growth by 16.8%. The city realized the general income of RMB 7.816 billion for tourism, with the year-on-year growth of 28.7%. In addition, there were 13.3 million mobile roaming services during the 3 days, with the year-on-year growth of 52.8%.

Various Cultural and Tourist Events Colored the New Year

During the 3-day holiday, there were more than 530 large-scale cultural activities in Chongqing, covering 8 million people. Meanwhile, these activities focused on performances, concerts, dramas, exhibitions, children’s cultural and art events, and so on.

With the theme as “Stepping on the Snow”, districts and counties promoted a series of events for tourism festival. Additionally, 35 districts or counties in Chongqing held more than 270 cultural-tourist events. In addition, information of consumption season also reached to the public.

For example, the 20th Jinfo Mountain Snow Tourism Festival began at Nanchuan District, lasting until the new year. In the meanwhile, 16th Jiangguan Wintersweet Art Festival was popular in Chongqing. Fairy Mountain held the group marriage ceremony there.

Scenic Areas Served 140,000 Visitors

According to the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, Chongqing Public Cultural Service Facilities served a total of 145,323 visitors during the 3-day holiday.

The Three Gorges Museum served 21,691 visitors while Chongqing Museum of Natural History served 17,822 visitors. Besides, 90,432 visitors paid a visit to Chongqing Hongyan Alliance Culture Developing Management Center (Chongqing Hongyan Revolution History Museum). There were 3,755 visitors stopped by Chongqing Art Museum while 3,521 visitors dropped by Chongqing Children’s Library.

Furthermore, Chongqing Hongyan Alliance Culture Developing Management Center implemented a real-name reservation system for visiting scenic areas. Real-name tickets booking for the two-river cruise and the Yangtze River Cableway, as well as intelligent triage system gradually executed. Therefore, the time for waiting for visitors was reduced a lot.

In addition, to ensure the safety, scenic areas kept everything in order, eradicating ticket scalpers there.
