“The elephants made of pieces of petals are so cute, and they can even build a ‘land’ by themselves,” said a visitor at the New Year science exhibition in Chongqing, Southwest China.

On the first day of 2019,  the Chongqing Science and Technology Museum opened its New Year exhibition for children and parents.

A good combination of technological and cultural elements

In fact, with new media to create a new natural way, the exhibition presented a diverse “film world” to the children.

There are 17 pieces (sets) of exhibits on display, including “Sea of Flowers”, “Chords of Dazzling Light”, “World of Painting”, “Colorful Slides” and “Footprints of Notes”. Furthermore, the interactive projection of multi-dimensional space generates a technology-and-poetic immersive experience, offering a unique visual, auditory and tactile impression.

The programmed dreamlike virtual “Sea of Flowers” can interact with the viewers involved. The way they behave will affect the birth, blossom, and withering of flowers. Furthermore, thanks to real-time computing, every flower is unique, and it will never be born again once withering. Thus the meeting with each flower also means the last time to see it.

Children feel a different nature

“On the first day, we hope children can feel something different through the visual beauty.” According to the museum, the “Colorful Slides” has applied technology. Additionally, it combines children’s favorites such as slides and flowers & fruits in a creative way, to bring them happiness. As another example, in the “World of Painting”, children can make their own innovations to paint houses, cars, etc. Generally, all of these paintings can enter into the virtual scene and become part of the “world” after scanning.

This exhibition, in addition to displaying the powerful modern technology, also enables the viewers to enjoy nature. Children can appreciate the endless sea of flowers in spring, or the fireflies gleaming in the forest at summer night. Moreover, they can even hear the whispers of insects between autumn leaves. It will last through June 2, 2019.
