By Keqiao Cheng, EDITOR

Chongqing - 2018 China’s Annual Meeting on E-Sports Industry (“the Meeting” for short) took place from January 15 to 17 in Huaxi Live (Banan Sports Center), Banan District. The event attracted experts from organizations, representatives of enterprises and event organizers. They reviewed the 20-year history and discussed the future of China’s e-sports in terms of this industry itself, academic study, and marketing.

Why Banan District?

The Annual Meeting comprises Forum, Grand Ceremony, Exhibition Championship, and E-Sports Cultural Exhibition. Champions of Wangzhe Rongyao (Arena of Valor) at Asian Games 2018 also performed a battle during this event.

So why can Banan District in Chongqing hold first China’s Annual Meeting on E-Sports Industry? The Huaxi Cultural and Sports Center is the answer. The 16,000 indoor seats, on one hand, make it qualified for holding such events. On the other hand, they have turned the Center into a new landmark of Chongqing for international sports and cultural events.

Banan District will give priority to the innovative development strategies led by big data and intelligent industries. Moreover, the District will issue more open policies and offer greater support to emerging industries. For example, it is planned to hold more concerning games.

Another e-sports event

Dota 2 Chongqing Major, an international e-sports grand event, is coming soon to this city. From January 19 to 27, 2019, 16 teams will compete for USD 1 million and 15,000 DPC points. 15 of them will be the winners of preliminaries held in six divisions. The champion of Bucharest Minor will be the last one.
