Chongqing - The city will launch the construction of Intangible Cultural Heritage Expo Garden within this year. Covering an area of around 733,000 square meters, the Garden will bring local folk masters and stunts together. It will also display classic items of intangible cultural heritage from both China and countries along the Belt and Road.

Wang Farong is the Director of the Office of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development. He expressed that the Garden, located in Longxing, Yubei District, would officially start construction this summer. The construction will complete in 2021 when it opens to the public for free.

“Intangible cultural heritage represents the excellent traditional culture. In terms of their continuity, it is wise to expose them to daily life instead of ignoring them.”

According to Wang, there are 4,110 items of 17 categories of intangible cultural heritage in Chongqing. They involve folk literature, traditional music, and dance, among others. Also, 44 items of them are in the national intangible cultural heritage list. While 511 items are in the municipal intangible cultural heritage list.

What's more, after its completion, the Intangible Cultural Heritage Expo Garden will be free to the public. In addition, it only takes about 10-minute drive to Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport from the Garden. So, it will be convenient for tourists from all over the world to have a see.
