Animated Film of Chongqing Listed in Annecy International Animated Film Festival

A teacher in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality has recently received an official mail from the Organizing Committee of 2019 Annecy International Animated Film Festival (“The Festival” for short), informing that this artwork entered the competition of short films. 

The Person in Gap

Lu Tingting is a teacher of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute and the creator of The Person in Gap. It is the first time for the animated film of Chongqing people to obtain this honor. And her artwork is one of the sever in this kind in China. The Festival will run from 10 to 15 in June.

According to Lu Tingting, The Person in Gap is about gender. In the short film, both the male and female are trying to enter eachother's games. She wants to show the complexity of human nature through this artwork.

The Person in Gap

Annecy International Animation Film Festival was created in 1960 and originated from the International Animation Day of Cannes International Film Festival. People started holding it when the site for the International Animation Day relocated in Annecy, a city in Eastern France.

The Festival also enjoys the longest history among the four competitive feature film festivals in the world. The globe has widely accepted the Festival as the highest standard in the field of animated films. After several decades of development, it has become the “Oscar Awards for animated films”. This year, the Festival has received 3,069 short films from 94 countries, and the shortlisted are only 80. Among them, 7 are from China, demonstrating the difficulty to be selected.
