More Hungarian Tradition Introduced to Children when Easter is Coming

By Rui Hu, iChongqing News

On April 12th, Consul General and officers from Hungarian Consulate General in Chongqing visited Chongqing Jiangbei Beautiful Grassland Kindergarten (BGL) to introduce Hungarian Easter culture to the children. This event is one in a series of activities during the 7th Hungarian Cultural Spring in Western China.

Dióssi Lóránd, Consul General of Hungary in Chongqing said that Hungarian Easter tradition differs from other countries. Besides the familiarity of finding eggs and painting eggs, Hungary has a special tradition-- splashing water. This tradition is similar to the Chinese Songkran Festival. In Hungary, the girl will send a favorite egg to the favorite young man, and the young man will pour water on the girl who wants to show that they have a good impression. This is the ancient Easter custom that originated in Hungary around the  2nd century AD. Each year Hungarians welcome the spring in this unique way.
