Chongqing—The 24th "World Reading Day (April 23)" is around the corner. On April 18th, according to the news release from Propaganda Department of the Municipal Party Committee, in order to improve the coverage and influence of reading trend in Chongqing, the 2019 National Reading Day and the 12th Chongqing Reading Month will kick off on April 20.
This year's Reading Month is closely related to the 70thanniversary of the founding of China. With the theme of “Glorious Reading for a New Age of 70 Years”, it will disseminate reading concepts, and cultivate reading habits with a variety of reading activities.

From April 20th to 28th, 9-day national reading series activities will be held at the main venue in Jiefangbei. They will set up an exhibition space of 1800 square meters, which will be displayed in the following four sections.
- Theme exhibition area: “The exhibition of the theme publications celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China” and “The Exhibition of Chongqing Key Publishing Projects”.
- Demonstration area: There are 34 promotion activities related to reading and cultural heritage will be carried out.
- Highlighted publications exhibition area: there will be more than 30,000 new books, best-selling books, and audio-visual products from more than 200 well-known publishing houses across the country. It will display them in the categories of politics, social science, economics, literature, life, education, children, etc. Books will be sold at a discount of 22% off.
- Well-known bookstore showcase area: a collection of well-known bookstores in Chongqing, showing reading promotion concepts, cultural creativity and so on.
