On April 25, Chongqing City signed a Memorandum of Friendly Cooperation (abbreviated as the Memorandum below) with N’Djamena City, Republic of Chad. Mayor Tang Liangzhi met with Saleh Damane, Mayor of N’Djamena, and co-signed the Memorandum.

Tang Liangzhi said Chad is an important partner of China in Africa and Chongqing and Chad have maintained frequent exchanges of top-level visits. As the capital of Chad, N’Djamena is the largest industrial center, transportation hub, cultural and educational center, and emerging tourism center, embracing the great potential for cooperation. Tang Liangzhi hopes that the two sides seize this opportunity to enhance friendly exchanges, as well as deepening economic and trade cooperation in the fields of infrastructure construction, machinery manufacturing, auto making, mineral exploration, and development, etc., to promote exchanges and cooperation in education, training and medical and health work, consolidate the friendship and improve people’s well-being.

Saleh Damane congratulated on Chongqing’s achievements in economic and social development. He said that Chongqing, a city full of vitality and energy, is a major central city and an important modern manufacturing base of China with a great prospect. N’Djamena is ready to establish a long-term and friendly partnership with Chongqing through implementing the consensus reached by high-level exchange visits and to continuously deepen mutual-beneficial cooperation in economy, trade, culture, and other fields, thereby laying a solid foundation for friendship and cooperation between the two cities.
According to the Memorandum and adhering to the principle of friendly relation and reciprocity, Chongqing and N’Djamena will jointly promote the friendly exchanges and cooperation in various fields, encourage and support the cooperation in economy and technology, medical and health, education and training, culture and art, sports exchanges and other fields in a bid to accelerate the establishment of sister city ties.
