Xilankapu, flower cover of Tujia

Chongqing is famous for its mountains and waters. However, many people do not know that there are many ethnic minorities in Chongqing. According to the data of the sixth national census, there are already 56 ethnic groups in Chongqing. Over the past 100 years, the civilizations of these nationalities have taken root, sprouted, and passed down in the land of the Bayu, and there have been countless national treasures.

As the most populous minority in Chongqing, the Tujia has a unique brocade called "Xilankapu". This nice name is actually a Tujia language. In Tujia language, "Xilan" means paving, "Kapu" is the meaning of flowers, and "Xilankapu" is the flower cover of Tujia people. People often use the word "earth" in front of the "flower cover" to mark the ethnic characteristics of the Tujia culture.

The "Xilankapu" brocade will be exhibited in this competition. The ancient skill of "Xilankapu" has experienced the long historical evolution from the primitive weaving of the indigenous ancestors to the modern Tujia brocade, which embodies the wisdom and ingenuity of the Tujia people from generation to generation. This contest invited Tujia girls to showcase the "Xilankapu" brocade technique on the pavilion, conquering the guests with the simplest but most unique ethnic style.

Miao embroidery from Pengshui

In addition to the Tujia, the most ethnic minority in Chongqing is the Miao. When it comes to the Miao nationality, people often think of the beautiful traditional costumes of the Miao people in the first time. Miao embroidery is the main decorative means of Miao costumes. It also represents the highest level of Chinese ethnic embroidery, and is also regarded as a symbol of Miao women's culture. Both Pengshui and Youzhou counties in Chongqing have their own Miao embroidery. As an important part of Miao embroidery, Pengshui embroidery will be exhibited in this competition.
