Chongqing, when playing an active role in the Belt and Road Initiative and turning into an exemplary inland city of opening-up, promotes effective integration of the China-Europe Railway Express (Chongqing) with the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC). As a result, the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road meet here, connecting the city with Europe, Central Asia, South Asia, and Southeast Asia.

The number of operating freight rails of the China-Europe Railway Express (Chongqing) has reached 20, covering over 30 cities in 11 Asian and European countries. More than 3,000 trains have delivered goods valuing at least RMB 133.8 billion, turning China Railway Express (Chongqing) into the largest one in this rail service network.

As the operation center of ILSTC, Chongqing established cooperative promotion mechanisms with provinces and cities in Western China and countries like Singapore and Vietnam. ILSTC rail-sea intermodal transport, inter-state railway transport, and cross-border road transport have seen the normal operation, with destinations involving 173 ports in 73 countries and regions.
