Unmanned aerial vehicles are used for surveying, design, wire erection and etc. in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality.
China has altogether 200 demonstrative districts and counties for building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and three in Southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality.
Taking a high-speed railway from the downtown of Chongqing for about half an hour, you will arrive at Roangchang District, where witnesses power grid upgrade to support the building of moderately prosperous society. The completion of the project has improved the quality of electricity consumption and met the demand for electricity in economic and social development.
Good for business development

Mr. Qin Wu, owner of a food company in Rongchang, said, “Rural power grid upgrade is fundamental for my company to expand from previous consumption of about 2000 kilowatts to current 10,000 kilowatts and more.” A more powerful grid ensures a better-quality production and larger sale. The annual output value of the company stood at 4 million. Moreover, company expansion also means more employees hired. “We hired just 10 locals before 2015, now 30 people and two are disabled.”
A dairy farm also benefited from a reliable power supply. Due to insufficient power supply capacity, the farm could only rely on manual milking, and could not use the feed mixer. After the rural power grid upgrade, the dairy farm adopted automatic milking equipment and spray cooling system. The milking and feed mixing steps were all automated, and the comprehensive benefits increased by more than 20%.
Favorable for the ecological environment
Supported by capable electricity networks, electric vehicle charging stations have been installed in Rongchang District of Chongqing.
Rongchang Antao, a town of pottery, represents a national intangible cultural heritage. In the past, Antao kiln used traditional charcoal kilns, with products having a low success rate and unstable quality, and the electric kiln not only has larger capacity but also has a better-finished product rate.
In addition, supported by capable electricity networks, electric vehicle charging stations have been installed in the district. Both electric kilns or charging stations are eco-friendly.
Rongchang District utilizes unmanned aerial vehicles for surveying, design, wire erection, refined inspections of power towers, fittings, insulators, and grounding lines through drones.
In 2018, Chongqing invested a total of RMB 196 million (USD 28.55 million) for the specific demo projects, which involve Rongchang Hechuan, and Bishan distribution networks. It plans to build and renovate 347 units of 10 kV distribution and with a capacity of 44,400 kVA.
