On August 5, the Artificial Intelligence Innovation Competition came to a satisfactory close. Most traditional mobile phone LCD screen production lines today, especially of some small and medium-sized manufacturers, are still using manual testing processes. AI technologies allow enterprises to sharply cut their labor costs and raise their efficiency at the same time. Chongqing Electronic Information SME Public Services Co., Ltd. brought a study and demonstration application project on defect detecting procedures for Deep Convolutional Neural Networks (DCNN) based mobile phone LCD panels, aimed at technical innovations on the application scenario.
In addition to smart factories, many other projects were focused on the construction of smart cities. For instance, a pre-warning and filing system for regulation of city appearance provided by Chongqing Institute of Green and Intelligent Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences is dedicated to regulating roadside stall businesses, irregular waste dumping, and other urban governance difficulties.
As introduced by the competition sponsor, the preliminaries of this competition included over 50 projects from all over the country. Apart from the projects as mentioned above, the finalists include an insight face-based real-time facial recognition system by the CQUPT team, a deep learning-based intelligent diagnosis system for pulmonary nodules by the Chongqing University team, and a smart construction site safety monitoring system by a team from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications and Nanjing Great Information Technology Ltd. The finalists will have a roadshow and be awarded on the Artificial Intelligence Industrial Development Cooperation Forum during the 2019 Smart China Expo. The winning teams will also be granted bumper bonuses as well as chances to access venture capital investors and technical services for project innovation.
