Chongqing- The opening ceremony of the Chongqing Industrial Museum will be held on September 28th, 2019, according to the Information Office of the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government September 23. And the museum starts to open to the public the following day to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China.

Online booking is now available on the official website of the Chongqing Industrial Museum. Moreover, the Main Exhibition Pavilion, the “Soul of Steel” Pavilion and the Industrial Site Park will have been free to visit during its trial operation from September 29 to December 28. The museum is closed on Mondays, opens between 9:00 and 17:00 from Tuesdays to Sundays, and receives no visitors after 16:30.
As the core component of Chongqing Industrial Culture Expo Park and one of the four museum clusters of Chongqing, Chongqing Industrial Museum shoulders the glorious mission to “inherit the industrial history of Chongqing and enrich the cultural connotation of the city.” In 2015, the construction of Chongqing Industrial Museum was commenced; and in September 2019, the project was completed in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
“Chongqing Industrial Museum fully exhibits the history of Chongqing industry in the past century and modern industrial achievements,” said a relevant director from the museum and added, “The museum further enriches new forms for cultural tourism in Chongqing.”

Chongqing Industrial Museum is located at Lizilin in Dadukou District, Chongqing. Constructed upon the remains of Chongqing Iron and Steel factory, Chongqing Industrial Museum consists of the Main Exhibition Pavilion, Soul of Steel Pavilion and Industrial Site Park, which has been dedicated to establishing itself as an innovative and creative pan-museum featuring interactive experience and thematic scenarios. Covering a total area of 8,000m2, the Main Exhibition Pavilion presents the development of Chongqing industry over the past 120 years since Chongqing first opened its port to foreigners. It demonstrates the revitalization of national production, the tremendous contribution of Chongqing industry to the War Against Japanese Aggression, the urbanization of Chongqing, the industrialization of China, and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Covering a total area of approximately 5,000m2, the “Soul of Steel” Pavilion has activated and utilized previous manufacturing shop of Steel Factory Relocation Commission, which is the former site of War of Resistance Ordnance Industry in Chongqing. The Industrial Site Park, covering about 42 mu (2.8 hectares), has valuable industrial equipment like an 8,000 Hp double-vat horizontal steam engine manufactured by the UK Sheffield Company in 1905, themed statues, installation arts, and statues of industrial pioneers, exhibiting a perfect combination of industrial culture and public art.
