Travel in old alleys in the Shancheng Alley

Shancheng Alley attracted many tourists during the National Day holiday. Old Alleys of Chongqing Photography Exhibition, held in the center of the Alley, displays old alleys shot by He Zhiya, Chairman of Chongqing Famous Historical and Cultural City Committee.

He Zhiya believes the city’s cultures, history, and customs are embedded in the old alleys and communities. City gates, city walls, stone stairs, retaining walls, flagstone-covered paths, strangler figs, and stilted buildings are symbols of traditional districts of Chongqing.

Ms. Li from Guangzhou said old alleys in Chongqing were like Qilou buildings in Guangzhou. They witnessed the daily life of everyday people and carried the memories of childhood.

Visit Zengjiayan Academy to understand changes of the past 70 years

Zengjiayan Academy, located in Yuzhong District, is the former site of the Chongqing Police Station during the early 20th century. The old building aged over 100 houses the Photography and Real Objects Exhibition of 70-Year Changes, which will last until the end of 2019 for free.

More than old objects, the exhibition also displays videos, photos (Eling Park, Chongqing University, and Southwest University), books, and documents that unveil the history of Chongqing over the past 70 years.

The first part of the Exhibition reviews what Chongqing experienced during November 30, 1949, and October 1, 1950, through precious photos and historical documents. Real objects exhibited incorporate souvenir medals and military medals awarded during the War of Liberation, Xinhua Daily resumed on December 1, 1949, and series books to celebrate the first anniversary of the victory of the War of Liberation.

City and People mainly introduced 16 old people who contributed to the liberation of Chongqing and national development, including former Vice President of Chongqing University, Professor Liu Guoshu, the 100-year-old painter of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute and major editor of China’s first edition Oxford Advanced Learner's English-Chinese Dictionary.
