Chongqing-Taiwan Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition Opens

On October 22, the Chongqing & Taiwan Calligraphy and Painting Works Exhibition opened at the Chongqing Art Museum. A total of 50 calligraphy and paintings from Taiwan and 70 from Chongqing are on exhibition. The entrance admission is free of charge until the 27th October.

The time-honored and profound Chinese culture has provided calligraphers and painters in both Chongqing and Taiwan with a steady stream of creative inspiration and sources, and the art of traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy is an integral part of Cross-Strait cultural exchanges.

In the morning, the exhibition invited 11 Taiwan guests and eight creators from Chongqing Art Museum to splash ink on the spot, create Chinese painting and calligraphy work together, and exchange what they have learned from the creation.

“Chongqing enjoys unique topographic features, and painters love its urban landscapes such as the stilted buildings.” Zhang Keqi, President of Taiwan Art Association, said that calligraphers and painters in Chongqing and Taiwan were excited to learn from each other, and many of their works are enjoyable.

Exhibitions include traditional Chinese paintings, themed flowers and birds, mountains and rivers, and people and things, as well as calligraphy work

As one of the activities of the 11th Chongqing-Taiwan Week, the exhibition was guided by Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development and Taiwan Affairs Office of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, and sponsored by Chongqing Art Museum, the Nationalities Unity and Progress Association of China and Taiwan Art Association. It invites calligraphers and painters from the two regions to show their talent and learn from each other, thus promoting their friendship.

Chongqing and Taiwan have close relations of culture and education in history, and their ties of blood have been connecting the about 90,000 households in both regions. This exchange activity, adhering to the idea of “People on Both Sides of the Taiwan Strait as One Family”, shapes the common cross-Strait “root” and “soul” with artistic works, facilitates cultural exchanges and cooperation between Chongqing and Taiwan, promotes the inheritance and innovation of Chinese culture, and helps the two regions to carry forward the excellent traditional Chinese culture and the great national spirit together.
