Chongqing-Okinawa Direct Flight Route to Open on Dec. 27

The direct flight route between Chongqing and Okinawa is coming soon! Air China will open the direct flight route between Chongqing and Okinawa on December 27, with three departures per week. At the initial stage, the price of a round-trip ticket is as low as RMB 1,000.

The route is operated by Air China. Every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, Flight CA477 departs from Chongqing at 12:35 and lands in Okinawa at 17:20, and Flight CA478 departs from Okinawa at 18:35 and arrives in Chongqing at 22:10.

Okinawa belongs to Kyushu, with a subtropical climate. Located in the Western Pacific Ocean, it is also influenced by the oceanic climate. With the annual average temperature of 23°C, it is called “Oriental Hawaii.” Tourists can watch the whales, dive, and go shopping in Okinawa, as well as appreciating the early sakura there in January and February.

Since the opening of the direct flight route to Japan in 2015, the number of tourists from Chongqing to Japan increased by 3.5 times in the previous five years. The annual average passenger load factor of the route is more than 90%, which is one of the international routes with the highest passenger load factor of Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport. In December, Air China and West Air launched the Chongqing-Tokyo and Chongqing-Osaka routes in succession. As of now, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport has opened 89 international (regional) routes connecting Europe, America, Australia, Asia, and Africa. The Chongqing-Okinawa route is the 4th direct one to Japan. Its opening embodies Chongqing’s goal to build itself into an international hub by focusing on major economic cities, business cities, and countries with a population of more than 100 million.
