Chongqing Novel Coronavirus Update: 426 Confirmed Cases Reported, Multi-Disciplinary Treatment on Patients

Chongqing- As of 24:00 local time on February 7, Chongqing had reported a total of 426 confirmed cases due to novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) infection, according to the Chongqing Municipal Health Commission Saturday. There are 31 severe cases, 17 critical cases, two deaths, and 31 discharged patients.

A total of 14,114 people who had close contacts with 2019-nCoV patients have been traced, 6,640 people have been released from medical observations, and 7,474 people are under medical observation.

According to Friday's press conference, discharged patients from the hospital should continue to rest for about two weeks to allow their bodies to recover further.

Multi-disciplinary treatment adopted for 2019-nCoV patients' recoveries

Two severe cases discharged from the northeast area of ​​Chongqing were mentioned at the press conference, one was the first reported confirmed patient in Chongqing and also the first discharged patient in the municipality. The municipal expert group went to the northeastern and participated in the treatment. It adopted multi-disciplinary treatment (MDT), including various disciplines such as infectious diseases, respiratory medicine, intensive care unit, pediatrics, testing and imaging, and traditional Chinese medicine.

"When the first patient was confirmed and reported. We evaluated her medical situation that she was a severe patient," said Hu Peng, head of Wanzhou Area and the director of the Department of Infectious Diseases of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University. Having received MDT with joint professional efforts, the patient then recovered and was discharged from the hospital.

Preferential loans will be given to enterprises that produce, transport, or sell medical supplies and life necessities to ensure that their loan rates are lower than 1.6 percent.
